classroom floor plan |
I know that my classroom floor plan is very optimistic, and that the average classroom is minimal in comparison. I want to show my ideal classroom, where my students’ learning has room for discussion and lecture, as well as space to get together in small groups for research and projects. I have my room set up in such a way that there can be many levels of learning going on at the same time. The chairs are set up in a type of small group and an open discussion layout. I have the open floor space in the middle of all of the desks so that students are able to see each other during discussion. This also provides me an open area for freer movement throughout the classroom, and not be limited to the front. The open and welcoming feeling of this classroom setup is what I want for my students. I believe that it is difficult to learn if one does not feel safe and comfortable in their environment. My main goal is to facilitate an environment where my students are not afraid to ask questions or "get the wrong answer.” I believe that the right environment can create a confidence that will encourage higher goals in my students. The posters I have chosen to decorate my room with are meant to inspire and give illustration to well-known works of literature so that my students can have a memory-helping tool to assist readings.
